Cacao + Tahini Bites
These loaded date bars are nutrient and dense and a great post-partum pick me up (although I still make them regularly now, my kiddos love them!). Oats and flaxseeds are great fibre sources that help reduce constipation, sesame seeds are high in calcium and raw cacao is high in magnesium. Tahini is also a good source of calcium and coconut oil is an anti-bacterial/viral oil. Raw honey and maple syrup are great prebiotic food sources.
INGREDIENTS (makes 3 PORTIONS )
10-12 medjool dates
125g oats
55g flaxseeds
2 tbsp sesame seeds
3 tbsp raw cacao powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
50g hulled tahini
50g organic coconut oil, melted
2 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup
METHOD
Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until well combined or squash together with a wooden spoon mixture should be firm but soft.
Grease and line a 20cm square baking tin or press mixture into individual flexible cake moulds, press down with the back of a spoon.
Cover and freezer for 30-40 mins. remove and if using baking tin cut into 10 bars or remove from cake moulds
Store in an airtight container in the the fridge for up to a week but my best tip is to double batch them and freeze! They are really nice straight out of the freezer.
